VALKNUT
The objective of the project is to achieve the optimization of the logistics processes of the terminals of a port. To achieve this, the technological objective of the project is the development of VALKNUT: a Smart Terminal platform that allows the optimization of port logistics operations and processes in the terminals.
The technological proposal that this system will support is based on the creation of an open and interoperable IoT platform through different services, own or third-party, that allows port terminals to have complete control in real time of the parameters that govern said processes and offer a tool for the optimization of time and resource consumption thanks to the modeling, simulation and mathematical optimization of its logistics processes. The platform will incorporate specialized artificial intelligence for the port terminal environment. The artificial intelligence mechanisms will be achieved through modeling, simulation and optimization of the most common processes that occur in this type of business (ship loading/unloading, container transport, intermodal vehicle output, etc.) using mathematical methods. .
The execution of this project will result in an improvement in performance and an increase in profit for the terminals, as well as in a new operation guided by a technological platform and the mathematical optimization of the process. The project will analyze the best option in the order and method of execution of the processes so that these can be carried out in the terminal in an optimal manner, resulting in a reduction in cost and temporary effort that will benefit both the terminals themselves and the operation of the port as a whole.


SATRD role in the VALKNUT project
SATRD is responsible for i) the definition of the modular architecture and its components, ii) the modular integration design and deployment system, iii) the design and development of the IoT platform and iv) the development of the interface with other systems.
