INFRASTRUCTURE
The research group has a state-of-the-art infrastructure that allows deploying and validating owned and third-party technological solutions in a realistic environment. The equipment can be divided into two main groups: the cloud infrastructure, and the edge infrastructure. They can be used independently or connected together (hence, forming a computing continuum), where research solutions can be implemented for addressing use cases from several business scenarios.
CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE
The cloud infrastructure enables the deployment and validation of virtualized services in a high-performance environment. The data center consists of:
- Three servers, each of them with large memory and high-performance processors.
- An additional server with hardware acceleration capabilities (in particular, eight NVIDIA A40 GPUs).
- Two NAS enclosures, providing a reliable, cloud-ready unified storage solution.
- Two UPS equipment.
- Two SDN switches at 10 Gbps.
EDGE INFRASTRUCTURE
The edge infrastructure provides key equipment to develop and implement IoT and Tactile Internet use cases, including 5G and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies. It includes:
- Two servers, a dedicated SDN switch (also 10 Gbps) and two SDR devices to implement a lab-grade 5G testbed.
- 5G equipment (routers, end devices) and open SIM cards to use within the 5G testbed.
- A faraday tent where 5G experiments can be deployed.
- IoT and Industrial Gateways (supporting several Industrial protocols, e.g., CAN, Modbus, PROFINET, etc.)
Augmented reality elements, such as AR glasses and in-vehicle dashcams.
